Adding a widget on demo home page

Dear team,

First of all, I want to thank you for developing such a wonderful theme! I would like to add a short code such as Interactive World Map to connect my categories and posts. I want to add it somewhere below the highlights and above the first post. However, I do not see any option to customize home page in a way that I can add a widget or short code. Could you please help me with that?
