Post images and Featured image

Hi there, I’m trying to add a featured image that sits on the post when the post link is on the home page, for example, but I can’t figure out how to remove the featured image from the post itself. I just want the post title at the top of the blog, not the featured image.
I’ve looked for a tab somewhere and even tried some CSS but I can’t figure it out. Is there a tab anywhere to fix that?
